User creates review

Initiating a Review

  • Navigate to "Reviews" in the project sidebar
  • Click "New Review" in the top-right corner
  • Select the requirements to include in the review

Review Configuration

When creating a review, you'll need to provide:

  1. Title: A descriptive name for the review

  2. Description: Summary of the changes and their purpose

  3. Final State: Either "Approved" or "Rejected", this is the state the requirements under review will be transitioned to if the review is completed.

  4. Items for Review: The requirements or other artifacts being reviewed

  5. Reviewers: Team members who need to approve the changes

    • Required reviewers must approve for the review to be completed
    • Optional reviewers can provide feedback but aren't blockers

Review Dashboard

The review dashboard provides:

  • My Reviews: Reviews you've initiated
  • Assigned to Me: Reviews you've been assigned
  • All Open Reviews: All reviews you have permissions to view that are currently open
  • Closed Reviews: All reviews that you have permissions to view that are closed

Reviewer Actions

Reviewers can take several actions:

  1. View Changes:

    • See before/after comparisons
    • View change history
    • See other reviewers' comments
  2. Add Comments:

    • General comments on the entire review
    • Specific comments on particular requirements
    • Inline comments on specific text
    • Add attachments to comments for reference
  3. Request Changes:

    • Highlight issues that need to be addressed
    • Specify required modifications
    • Block approval until changes are made
  4. Approve:

    • Approve the review as is
    • Approve with non-blocking comments
    • Approve specific items while requesting changes on others

Author Actions During Review

While the review is active, the author can:

  1. Monitor Progress: Track which reviewers have responded
  2. Respond to Comments: Reply to reviewer feedback
  3. Make Changes: Update requirements based on feedback
  4. Request Re-review: Ask reviewers to look at updated content
  5. Add Reviewers: Include additional people if needed
  6. Cancel Review: Withdraw the review if necessary

Review is approved

Approval Process

A review is considered approved when:

  1. All required reviewers have approved
  2. All blocking comments have been resolved

Completing the Review

Once approved, the author can complete the review:

  1. Navigate to the review
  2. Click "Complete Review"

For Review Creators

  1. Clear Context: Provide sufficient background information for reviewers
  2. Focused Scope: Keep reviews manageable by limiting the number of items
  3. Right Reviewers: Select appropriate reviewers based on expertise and authority
  4. Adequate Time: Allow sufficient time for thorough review
  5. Responsiveness: Address reviewer comments promptly

For Reviewers

  1. Timely Response: Complete reviews within the requested timeframe
  2. Constructive Feedback: Provide specific, actionable comments
  3. Complete Review: Examine all aspects, not just your area of interest
  4. Objective Assessment: Focus on content quality, not personal preferences
  5. Clear Expectations: Be explicit about what changes are required vs. suggested
